Whatever is announced at tonight's press conference, we'll be spending a lot of time at home for a while yet. Many of us are longing for restrictions to ease, but we also understand that staying at home is necessary and will probably stay that way for some time.
By now, though, you're probably looking forward to a day without your housemates, you've scrolled through Netflix ten times looking for a new series and you've played every board game you own. There's no getting around it: boredom is slowly creeping in. Luckily, we've got some handy tips to fight the corona boredom!
You probably saw this one coming from us, but there's hardly a better time to tackle the jobs you've been putting off. Now that weekends are no longer filled with family gatherings, birthdays and days out, there's plenty of time to sort out that loose skirting board, the dated bathroom, the kids' rooms or the loft.
For smaller jobs, ContainerOnline has handy big bags available. The big bags are sent by post and hold 1m3 of waste. We have big bags for construction waste, wood, soil, garden waste and rubble.
Give your walls a new colour, rearrange the furniture, replace the curtains or turn the whole house upside down. A change helps you break out of the rut and is a great outlet for your creativity. Bonus points: support a local business by ordering that lovely new desk or some new chairs.
There's nothing more relaxing than getting your hands dirty in nature. Spring has been here for a while and the sun is shining. If you invest in your garden now, you'll enjoy it all summer long. And that matters more this year than ever, because there's a good chance your own little patch will be this year's holiday destination. Pull up weeds or use this time to prune. Much of this was done in the autumn, but hydrangeas, for example, are best cut back right now.
No garden? Brighten up your balcony with a lick of paint, new plants, flowers and/or some new chairs.
OK, we don't all need to be fluent in Spanish or Italian once the coronavirus crisis is over, but now that you have a bit more time on your hands, you could use it to learn something new. From online drawing lessons to writing a book – you name it! You're never too old to learn new things. Just choose something that really makes you happy: it's relaxing, and who knows, you might discover a whole new side of yourself!
Volunteering is a worthwhile way to spend your time. It's also very rewarding, as you're keeping busy with something that matters! Start small and look locally. Could you do the shopping for your elderly neighbour? Could you be a listening ear for lonely older people, or has a community group been set up in your area that you could contribute to?
