Around New Year's Eve, many municipal waste containers are locked. This is to stop people throwing lit fireworks into them. Private skips in public places are also at risk. For this reason, some municipalities don't allow skips to remain in place around New Year's Eve.
Whether the skip can stay depends on the municipality. Do you need a waste skip around New Year's Eve? Then please contact your municipality yourself to check whether this is allowed. Already have a skip on site, but finished with your job before New Year's Eve? Then, to be on the safe side, arrange in good time for the skip to be collected. When municipal enforcement officers spot a skip, they often contact the waste processing company themselves to have it picked up. So your skip could suddenly be gone.
Skips on your own property can always stay. In this case, however, you are responsible for any firework damage yourself. Do you have a closed waste skip? We recommend locking it with a padlock around New Year's Eve.
Of course, skip hire is convenient. We drop off the skip, you fill it, we take it away and you're rid of your waste. It saves you lots of time, keeps your car clean and/or means you don't have to hire a trailer. What's more, the municipal recycling centre will usually only accept a maximum of 1 cubic metre (or sometimes less) of construction waste. Municipalities that do accept more construction waste will charge a fee after the first cubic metre, and these costs can add up quickly. When you do the maths, hiring a skip works out cheaper. Affordable, and it saves you time and money. Nothing but advantages.
The waste skip for construction waste comes in 3 different sizes and 4 versions.
The 3m3 skip, also known as the “3 cubic metre skip”, The 6m3 skip, also known as the “6 cubic metre skip”, The 10m3 skip, also known as the “10 cubic metre skip” The closed 10m3 skip, also known as the “closed 10 cubic metre skip”,
ContainerOnline has waste skips for many different waste types. Which skip you need depends on the types of waste you'll be producing. What can and can't go in the skip? Have a look at the different waste types for more information or try the Container Check for personal advice.
Whether you need a permit depends on where the skip will be placed and in which municipality. On your own property, you can always place a skip without a permit. Want to place a skip on council land, such as a parking space, the pavement or the street? Then check the rules in your municipality. In some municipalities a simple notification is enough, or you only need to ask for permission by phone. In others you need an exemption or even a need a permit. We've gathered this information for you, but as the rules can change, it's always a good idea to check for yourself.
At ContainerOnline we always guarantee a competitive rate. We only work with fixed all-in prices. This means you know exactly what you'll pay in advance, with no surprises afterwards. This fixed price covers delivery and collection of the skip, as well as processing of the waste. Prices are always incl. VAT. Once delivered, the skip can stay for 4 weeks free of rental charges.
* Always check with your local council whether the skip may be placed on the pavement. You don't need a permit on your own driveway or in your garden.
