Why hiring a waste skip is good for the environment

Waste has a bad reputation. We're told to avoid it as much as possible, or else we contribute to a polluted world and the plastic soup. Of course, there's nothing wrong with keeping an eye on how much material you use and avoiding waste, but when waste is handled responsibly, it's really not that bad for the environment! So you can build, renovate or demolish with a clear conscience about the waste you produce. By choosing a skip for the right waste type, you make sure your waste can be put to good use again.

Construction skip hire

At ContainerOnline, we supply waste skips for a range of waste types. By renting out skips for different waste types, we make sure waste is separated right at the source. This makes it easy to recycle, and (in most cases) it doesn't need to be sorted afterwards. That saves not only manpower and energy, but also money. At ContainerOnline, sustainability matters to us. We have a nationwide network of more than 50 hauliers and processors. For each address, we look at which collector has to travel the fewest kilometres and offers the best price. This cuts CO2 emissions and keeps costs low.

Construction skip hire costs

How much does it cost to hire a waste skip? Some waste types are easier to recycle than others, which means the processing costs for these waste streams are lower. That's why, for example, a construction and demolition waste skip costs more to hire than a rubble skip. At ContainerOnline, we always charge an all-in rate. This means the skip is delivered, can stay on site free of rental charges for 6 weeks and is collected on request, all for one price.

The Netherlands scores high on sustainability

Separate collection is essential for recycling, and in the Netherlands we know how to recycle well. We're in the top five for the most sustainable waste processing in Europe. Only Austria, Germany and Belgium recycle better. That's remarkable, because on average we produce a lot of waste per person each year: around 490 kilos. We're also good at producing construction waste, with around 22.5 million tonnes released every year. When collected properly, more than 98% of it can be recycled into new building products. Ideal, because it means no new raw materials need to be used. Wondering which skip you need for your project? Take the Container Check!

Benefits of hiring a construction skip

As well as contributing to a more sustainable environment, hiring the right construction skip has plenty of other advantages.

Driving back and forth to the tip takes time. On top of that, you're busy loading and unloading, and you or your workers are away from the job for a while. With a skip on site, getting rid of waste is no longer a time-consuming task. What's more, dumping waste at a tip isn't free either. The price depends on the amount of waste and how often you need to go.

If you choose to take your waste to the tip, you'll need a trailer. Hiring a trailer costs money, and it often fills up quickly. That means making several trips, which brings us back to point 1: it takes time. Waste skips come in different sizes. Got a lot of waste? Choose a bigger skip. Is the skip full but you're not finished yet? Simply have it swapped for a new one quickly.

Our drivers deliver the skip and collect it again. You choose the delivery date yourself, and it's often possible as soon as the next (working) day! The skip can also stay on site free of rental charges for 6 weeks, so there's no stress. Having a proper place to store your waste also makes working a lot safer. It stops waste lying around until it's only cleared up at the end of the job.
