Skip hire doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. By making smart choices and paying attention when you hire a skip, you can save a lot on costs. In this article, we share 4 tips for hiring a cheap skip without compromising on quality and service.
A rubble skip is the cheapest skip to hire. That's because rubble is just one waste type and is easy to process. Do bear in mind that you may only put stone-type materials in the skip. If you mainly have a lot of stone waste and not much else, you can hire a rubble skip and take the rest of your waste to the recycling centre yourself. That way, you save on the cost of a mixed waste skip.
Have you got a lot of mixed waste that you can't take away yourself? Then choose a construction skip instead. If you put other waste in a rubble skip, you may be charged extra afterwards, and that's a waste of money.
Choosing the right size is essential if you want to order the cheapest skip. A smaller skip is cheaper than a larger one, but hiring two small skips costs more than one large one. It's a shame to hire a bigger skip than you need, but keep in mind that you often have more waste than you first think. Torn between two sizes, or do you have exactly as much waste as the skip holds? Then go for the larger size. You don't want to find out halfway through that you need more space after all and have to order another skip. That's both more expensive and more time-consuming.
A Ordering a skip online is often cheaper than going directly to the waste processor. The skip service has good agreements with suppliers, so it can offer a competitive price. By ordering online, you benefit from these lower prices and save on the cost of hiring a skip.
Hiring a cheap skip is great, but not if unexpected costs come with it. It's good to have a clear all-in price, so you know where you stand. With us, you get an all-in price, so there are no surprises afterwards. Even so, you may sometimes get an extra charge. This can happen if the driver can't reach the skip and has had a wasted journey, or if the wrong waste has gone into the skip. Make sure you know what can go in the skip, so you don't throw in something that doesn't belong there by mistake. That way you avoid extra costs and hiring a skip stays good value.
