Waste skip on a Saturday?

2 april 2021 · Ruud Bats

You've set aside the weekend to tackle that job around the house, or to have it done. But what do you do with the construction waste? Can you have a waste skip delivered on a Saturday, and what time will it arrive? On Saturday morning you want to get started straight away, not sit around waiting. Many companies don't deliver waste skips on Saturdays at all. So how do you make sure you can safely get rid of all the rubble in the skip, however early you start?

Skip hire on a Saturday

Saturday is a great day for odd jobs. Even so, very few companies will drop off a skip then. You could ask your local provider whether they can deliver one. But why bother, when it can be there on Friday for the same price? Then you can pull on your gloves right after your morning coffee and start throwing in planks with nails, chipped-off bricks and old pipes. Or simply watch the builders do it, of course. The waste skip can stay for 4 weeks at no extra rental cost and you don't need to be at home when it's delivered. If you want it in a specific spot, mark it with chalk or a ribbon. That way you don't have to stay in for it.

When you book a order a skip, it's scheduled to keep the distance driven as short as possible, which keeps CO2 emissions low. For you, this means it isn't always possible to have the skip at a specific time. That's why it's delivered between 07:00 and 17:00. You can always tell us your preferred time, but we can't guarantee it. After all, something can always happen on the road. The driver can deliver the skip perfectly well without you being there, and if you'd still like to discuss the best spot, just say in the comments when you order that you'd like a call.

The benefits of ordering a skip in good time

No stress “Will the skip arrive on time? What time is my skip coming? So what time can the builders start? The builders have been waiting for ages, where on earth is that skip?”

Ordering a skip in good time saves you a lot of stress. After all, the skip is already in place before the job begins, so everyone can get started straight away on the agreed day.

Get started on time Starting work at 05.00 in the morning? Or at 07.00? OK, maybe not ideal for the neighbours, but the skip won't hold you back. It's already there, ready to be filled.

No waste in the garden Skips often aren't delivered on Saturdays, which means Monday at the earliest. If the job is done over the weekend and you don't have time during the week to throw the waste in the skip, construction waste, often with sharp edges and points, can end up lying in the garden for quite a while. What if you or your child steps on a nail? So make sure the skip is already there on Friday.
