If you'd told us last year what 2020 would look like, we probably wouldn't have believed you. Although we're working towards an exit strategy, we're still spending a large part of our time at home.
Working from home. Not everyone has that option, but for many of us, working at the kitchen table has become completely normal. Some companies have already asked their staff to keep working from home until at least 2021. When you spend so much time at home, you start to see it differently. More critically. Suddenly you notice that the wall could do with a fresh coat of paint, and that junk in the loft really ought to be cleared out.
So are you itching to get started? Make the most of it! Before you know it, much more will be possible again and our time will be taken up by travelling, sport, taking the kids to swimming lessons and social occasions. The time you're saving now by not commuting can be put to good use on small jobs around the house, such as painting, wallpapering and clearing out cupboards and sheds.
Choose a container, where you can get rid of all your old household items (a bulky waste skip) or go for a garden waste skip if you've decided to give the garden a proper makeover. For bigger jobs, we have construction and demolition skips or rubble skip available.
These extraordinary circumstances call for extra care from everyone. We've been lucky that waste collection has been able to carry on as normal over the past few months. Hats off to all the drivers who have kept on working!
When you hire a skip, the driver places it outside your door. You don't need to be there for this. Of course, you're always welcome to point out where you'd like the skip to go, which is handy when that's not obvious. As long as everyone keeps 1.5 metres apart, this is no problem. Nothing needs to be signed when the skip is delivered either. The whole order is handled online.
Collecting the skip doesn't require any personal contact either. It is important, though, that you stick to the agreed rules for filling the skip: no more than 20 cm above the rim and only the correct waste stream. This means the driver won't have to move any waste and can take the skip away without problems.
If you have a lot of waste, you have two options: take it to the recycling centre or hire a waste skip. Both are good solutions, each with their own pros and cons. You can still go to the recycling centre at the moment. Just pay attention to what time you go, and turn back if it's too busy. Over the past few months there have been frequent warnings about the crowds at recycling centres.
If your budget allows, waste skip hire is therefore the smarter option. It lets you avoid physical contact and you don't even have to leave the house! Hire a waste skip easily online for any waste type. Tell us where the skip should go and we'll put it there for you. Arranging collection is just as easy, with a single click.
Don't fancy driving to the recycling centre, but don't have huge amounts of waste either? A Big Bag is the ideal solution! It's a sturdy waste bag that holds 1 m3 of waste. The Big Bag is available for all waste types, such as construction and demolition waste, garden waste, bulky waste, green waste, rubble, soil, roofing waste and wood. Shipped via PostNL within one working day.
